Confession time: Expectations will kill your enjoyment.
I remember arriving in a gloomy Taipei around early May last year and expecting it to blow me away with sights and sounds that I'd never seen before. Sure, the food was good and the people friendly, but there wasn't anything that wowed me about the place; at the time I couldn't find anything truly novel to sink my teeth into. Now, looking back, I realize that sometimes the ideas we have of certain places can get in the way of us being present, simply enjoying those moments. At times I even find myself missing the waft of that stinky tofu. Hindsight being 20/20 vision and all that.
