Saigon or Ho Chi Minh City? That's all up to you, as long as you know where the latter moniker originated. It was just after the 1976 reunification of North and South Vietnam that the name of the celebrated Viet communist leader was given to the country's southern metropolis.
Out of all the cities I visited in Vietnam, I'd have to say I enjoyed Saigon the most. Don't get me wrong, Hanoi was a great entry-point into the country, but HCMC felt a perfect mix of modern and manic. I'll be sharing more from Saigon in future posts, but for now, enjoy this series of images. I've titled it District 1 (which is predominantly a tourist district) but if I remember correctly, this was actually just on the fringes of D1 on Calmette Road, not far from the Bitexco Tower and a short distance from the hedonistic haunt of Bui Vien Street (IYKYK).
